James Raymond Bevins, of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away in West Palm Beach on January 31, 2010. James was born on March 22, 1923, in Williamson, West Virginia. After 21 years of serving his country, James retired as a Major in the Artillery Division of the U.S. Army. James and his loving wife Madeline raised their three children in Massachusetts before moving to Hollywood, Fl. In 1972 and subsequently moved to Gainesville, Fl. In 1976. James was employed for the remainder of his career in Business Management. James and Madeline were married 50 years until her death in 1996. James moved to Century Village, West Palm Beach in 2000, and married Lillian Kuchinski Bevins. ‘Jim’, as he was known, will be remembered for his quick wit, love of family, friends, and neighbors, and travels with Lillian.
James is survived by his loving wife Lillian of West Palm Beach, Fl., son James Robert Bevins of Tampa, Fl., daughter Joan Burns of Cape Coral, Fl., and Daughter Jean Ciro of Holbrook, N.Y. James is furthermore survived by his 8 grandchildren: Ronny, T.J., Jessica, Jackie, Heather, Frank, Jamie and great-grandson Aiden.
James was a highly decorated WWII Veteran and double-recipient of the Purple Heart.
A Full Military Service will be held for James on Saturday, February 6, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at Forest Meadows Cemetary in Gainesville, Fl. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Oh. 45250-0301. Telephone: 1-877-426-2838.
