Doris Booth, 92, passed away on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 at Shands Hospital, Starke, FL.
She was born on March 6, 1917 to Louis and Floy Snyder in Highland Park, MI. Doris moved to Gainesville from St. Petersburg, FL in 1959 where she resided until 2004. She worked as a nurse's aide at Shands UF for 30 years. Doris loved the Lord and was active in church from a young age, teaching Sunday school and leading children's choir in Michigan. At Wesley United Methodist Church in Gainesville, she was active in the United Methodist Women, serving as President at one time. She also loved to sew and to do crafts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Booth and survived by three daughters: Betty Monroe of West Fork, AR; Diana Henn of Cleveland Heights, OH and Kathleen Cowart of Keystone Heights, FL She had 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Florida United Methodist Children's Home, 51 Main Street, Enterprise, FL 32725.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 826 NW 23rd Avenue, Gainesville. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastors Lusby Burrus and James Peoples officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville.
