James Ernest Jeffries

James Ernest “Ernie” Jeffries, 55, passed away on June 21, 2010 at Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL.


He was born on September 9, 1954 in Albany, GA and moved to Hawthorne, FL from Orlando in 1968. He attended Gainesville schools including Buholtz High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a disabled veteran. 


He is survived by his mother, Edith Essex of Hawthorne; father, James T. Jeffries of Gainesville, FL; two brothers, David Leigh Jeffries and John Edward Jeffries both of Gainesville, FL; a sister, Linda Osborn of Hendersonville, TN; 3 nephews and 2 nieces.


A Memorial Mass will be at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 500 NE 16th Avenue, on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Father Dung Bui officiating.  A reception will be held at the church following the Mass.

Aunt Edie, I am so sorry to hear about Ernie. I remember as I was growing up and having some really good times with my cousins. Dear Aunt Edie and family My thoughts and prayers are with you. A sturdy faith in God and a firm belief in the promise of eternal life may keep us from giving way to grief. But grief is not the denial of faith. The shortest verse in the Bible,John 11:35 says, "Jesus wept." Though we weep, there is no need for despair for we know Ernie is in the hands of our loving Father. This is but a temporary separation. Christ's peace be with you all. Love Martha
